Halloween mazes

30 mazes shaped like the season: pumpkin, ghost, bat and witch hat. The shape is the board itself, openings sit on the outline, and each card prints the measured route and dead end count of its own maze.

Four shapes for the season

Every maze here is carved inside a Halloween silhouette: a fat pumpkin with its stem, a ghost with a wavy hem, a bat with jagged wings, and a witch hat from tip to brim. The silhouette is the maze itself: openings sit on the outline, corridors fill the shape, and the solution route runs through the picture. Each shape comes in easy, medium and hard grid sizes, stated on every card with the measured route length and dead end count of that exact board.

Which shape for which solver

The pumpkin is the roundest and the friendliest, the right first sheet for the little ones. The ghost hides its exits among the three bumps of its hem, which children find funnier than they should. The bat is the mean one: its wings connect to the body through two narrow shoulders, and every route has to thread them. The witch hat is really two mazes stitched at the band, a cramped cone and a long shallow brim, and the hard size hat is the sneakiest board on the page.

Class parties and the trick-or-treat lull

Print the easy pumpkins and ghosts as a settle-down activity for an October classroom, and keep the hard bats for the fast finishers. At home they fill the gap between costume-on and doorbell time. The solution is the last page of each PDF, so print without it to hand out puzzles freely and keep a full copy in your folder, and the catalogue number under each board finds that same maze again next October.

More like this

The same shaped engine builds the Christmas mazes, the Thanksgiving mazes and the year-round animal mazes. For Halloween sheets that are not mazes, the color by number pages run the same free-PDF pattern. Plain rectangular boards at every size live on the main mazes page. As everywhere on this site: true A4 pages, 15mm margins, print at 100 percent, one proved route per maze.
