Thanksgiving mazes
30 mazes for the long afternoon while the food cooks: a turkey with its fan of feathers, a pointed autumn leaf and an acorn. Easy sizes for the small cousins, hard ones for whoever claims to be too old for this.
Turkey mazes
Ten boards across the fan of tail feathers, the round body and the head off to one side. The scalloped fan edge makes bays of corridors along the top, and the head is a spur most routes visit for nothing.
Autumn leaf mazes
Ten boards inside a pointed leaf with its stem. The outline narrows at both ends, so the maze funnels twice, and the stem is a one-lane finish.
Acorn mazes
Ten boards of cap and nut. The cap overhangs the nut on both sides, building two sheltered corners of maze, and the tip at the bottom is a pocket with room for exactly one wrong idea.
Three shapes for the long afternoon
Every maze on this page is carved inside a Thanksgiving silhouette: a turkey with its fan of tail feathers and its head off to one side, a pointed autumn leaf with a stem, and an acorn under its overhanging cap. The silhouette is the board itself: the openings sit on the outline and the solution runs through the picture. Each shape comes in easy, medium and hard, which are grid sizes printed on every card along with that board's measured route length and dead end count.
How the shapes play
The turkey is the big personality: the scalloped fan makes bays of corridors along the top, and the head on its neck is a spur most routes visit for nothing. The leaf funnels twice, once at each pointed end, and finishes down a one-lane stem. The acorn hides two sheltered corners under the rim of its cap, and the tip at the bottom has room for exactly one wrong idea. Ten boards of each means nobody at the table has to share.
While the food cooks
This page is built for the stretch of the day when the kitchen is busy and the table is not. Print easy leaves for the small cousins, medium turkeys for the middle of the table and hard acorns for whoever finishes first and says so. The solution is the last page of each file, so whoever is refereeing prints that page for themselves alone, and the catalogue number under each board brings the same maze back next November.
